Dr El Bachir Affar
Dr. El Bachir Affar, a physician with a PhD in Physiology-Endocrinology, heads the Cellular Signaling and Cancer Research Unit at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. He is also a tenured professor in the Department of Medicine and an accredited professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Montreal.
Dr. Affar's research focuses on cellular signaling through ubiquitination, DNA and chromatin-associated processes (DNA transcription and repair), and the molecular basis of cancer. His team is particularly focused on the gene BAP1, which is frequently mutated in certain types of cancers.
