With over-specialized training in the field

Dr Marc Isler
orthopaedist surgeon

Dr. Marc Isler received his medical education at the University of Montreal from 1981 to 1986. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Montreal Hospital Network (Edouard Samson Orthopedics Program).

After becoming a specialist in orthopedic surgery (FRSC), Dr. Isler continued his training with an additional year at the University of Montreal, at Sainte Justine Hospital, during which he was exposed to overall pediatric orthopedic surgery with a particular concern for oncological problems, as well as complex malformations, Spina Bifida, and other neuromuscular pathologies. He also became involved in teaching, including as an academic representative on the program's board of directors.

Later, he pursued a period of sub-specialization in musculoskeletal oncology at prestigious Harvard University, with the renowned team of doctors Henry Mankin, Dempsey Springfield, and Mark Gebhardt. This high-volume exposure allowed him to acquire a special experience in adult oncological pathologies, but especially those of a pediatric age. Also, this site having one of the most important experiences in the field, he was able to become an expert in reconstruction with massive allografts.

The final year of sub-specialization took place again at Harvard, in Boston, but in the field of pediatric orthopedics at Childrens' Hospital. The oncological aspect was consolidated, but a special experience was acquired in neuromuscular diseases such as Spina Bifida.
